  Stay는 머무르다라는 동사로 뒤에 형용사가 붙으면 '형용사처럼 머물러라'라는 의미 입니다.

여기서 나오는 tuned은 '조율하는'라는 의미입니다. 흔히 우리가 피아노나 기타의 선을 조이고 푸르는 과정을 통해 음을 맞게 조율하는 튠업(tune up)이나 새로운 뉴스를 듣기 위해 라디오 기기의 주파수 맞추는 형태를 말해주고 있습니다. 두 경우 모두 아주 귀를 쫑긋 세우고 집중해서 들어야 해결할 수 있는 상황이죠.

  Stay tuned은 말 그대로 기기를 집중해서 조율하는 상황과 같이 어떠한 상황에 주목하라는 의미 입니다. 지금은 잘 쓰지는 않지만 과거 전쟁시 새로운 소식을 듣기 위해 라디오 앞에 모였던 주민들이나 군인들 모습 처럼 말이죠.

  요즘은 슈퍼스타K와 같은 프로그램에서 광고를 내보내기 전 "채널 고정하세요!"라는 의미로 이해하시면 되겠네요. 또는 회사의 리더로서 관련부서원들에게 진행 중인 프로젝트에 '면밀히 주목하라'라는 의미로도 쓰입니다.
