  회계 공부를 하다가 보면 가끔씩 등장하는 단어 「forfeit」에 대해 알아보자. 대충 감으로 때려 맞추려고 하다가 정확히 알아야 하는 중요한 단어임을 깨달음...

# Forfeit의 의미

   : to lose the right (by some error, offense, wrongdoings etc)

     → (권리 등) 박탈당하다

# 예문

ⓐ If an employee forfeits a stock option because the employee fails to to satisfy a service requirement.

ⓑ Because only eight players were present, the soccer team was forced to forfeit the world cup.

# 어원

14세기경 고대 프랑스어 Fortait (현재 Crime)에서 따온 단어라고 함. 영어 스럽지 않은 이유가 있었음. 

(기억하기 좋게 대단한 어원을 바랬지만, 별거 없네요.)
